Welcome to The Old Hangar, a transformed 1960s airplane hangar located in the heart of the South Burnett. Family-owned and operated by the Bjelke-Petersen family for over 110 years, Bethany has been part of Queensland’s history for more than a century.

The Old Hangar hosts weddings and events, featuring the Wedding Pad — perched on the highest hill in the district and the runway viewing platform, where golden hour beverages unfold against sweeping western views. On-site Bethany Cottages offer country-style accommodation, with camping also welcome, and a dedicated wedding coordinator to guide you through every stage of the planning process.

Located on a working farm surrounded by grazing cattle, horses, sheep, wildlife, and sweeping hills, the property offers a complete destination for celebrations, gatherings, and weekend-long experiences.

A word from our guests

We recently used Bethany as the venue for our wedding. Our ceremony was held on a hill which overlooks the surrounding countryside. The views are stunning and it is an ideal location for a wedding ceremony. The ‘Hangar’ is also available for hire and was ideal for our reception, creating an intimate atmosphere for all who attended and made for a very enjoyable night. From our initial enquiry, we found Rachel to be extremely friendly and very professional. She made herself available to us in the planning stages and was very helpful with suggestions and generous with the time that she gave us. Our preferences were all catered for and the attention to detail shown by Rachel ensured our wedding day was unique.

Our wedding at The Old Hangar was absolutely perfect… much of it thanks to the beautiful vibe of the location and incredible coordination of Rachel. This place is magical both day and night!

We were lucky enough to host my mum’s 50th birthday celebration at the Old Hangar at Bethany and were far from disappointed! Rachel was extremely flexible, accessible and hands on through out the process in order to achieve our vision. With the help of Rach and Christian, we were able to give my mum the milestone birthday celebration she deserved and we couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking for a unique, relaxed venue for your upcoming event that has a rich history and provides stunning country views, I would recommend the Old Hangar!

The Hangar was the perfect venue for our special event. Such a beautiful place with the most gorgeous views, rustic charm, and all in a classy setting. Sunset time was perfect and the fairy lights at night made for a cosy and magical atmosphere.

We hosted a networking event at The Old Hangar and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The venue provided a fantastic backdrop for connection and conversation. Our buffet-style catering, paired with a paint and sip activity, worked perfectly in the space. The fairy lights and fire pits created a warm, inviting atmosphere that encouraged guests to relax and engage. It was a seamless and enjoyable event from start to finish.
